Fatty belly can slightly increase the risk of death in people with heart disease

The largest of its kind, has been found that people with coronary artery disease who have even a modest beer belly or top muffin are more at risk of death for people whose fat collects in other locations. The effect was observed even in patients with a normal BMI (BMI). This analysis of the clinical results was published in the May 10 Edition, the magazine of the American College of Cardiology.

Researchers analyzed data from 15,923 people with CHD in five studies across the world. They found that those who have coronary heart disease and Central obesity, measured by the ratio of the circumference and hip size size, have twice the risk of death. It is equivalent to the risk of smoking a pack of cigarettes a day and have a very high cholesterol levels, especially for men.

Results refute the paradox of obesity, a perplexing finding in many studies showing that a higher BMI and chronic diseases such as coronary heart disease patients have better chances of survival than people of normal weight.

Coutinho, MD, author "suspected the paradox of obesity was going on because the BMI is not a good measure of body fat and gives no information on the distribution of fat," said Thai major Studio and member of the clinic of Cardiology in May. "BMI is only a measure of weight in proportion to height".What appears to be the most important, this is how distributed the fat in the body.

Francisco Lopes Jimenez, MD, research project principal and Director of the cardiometabolic program at the clinic for may, explains why this type of fat may be more damaging: "visceral fat has proven to be more active metabolism." It produces changes more cholesterol, blood pressure and sugar in the blood. "However, people who are mainly elsewhere in fat in the body, specifically, the legs and buttocks, do not show this risk."

The researchers argue that physicians should inform patients of coronary artery disease who have a normal BMI to lose weight if you have a high waist circumference or size high-ratio hip. The measure is very easy to use, Dr. Coutinho, said: "enough is a minute for a doctor with a tape measure to measure the perimeter of the size and the hip of the patient."

Research topics have varied from studies in the United States (Rochester, Minnesota, and San Francisco, California), Denmark, France and Korea. The inclusion of the various ethnic groups makes the more applicable to the study of the real world, said Dr. Coutinho.

How Android to fight against pollution

Why keep renaming in bold? Generally, if someone as accumulated many visceral fat (biological term for adipose tissue surrounding the body internal and makes your belly larger ), then, this is called fatty belly, stomach, belly of beer in bold or in the form of an Apple.

However, not long ago this body shape was called Android fat distribution. When you read the first book of the University open on difficult obesity, the first thing that came to my mind was a mobile operating system of Google Android shortly after the Androids popularized by George Lucas in subsequent novels and films. He had never heard of its use in the description of the distribution of fat and muscles before. So, why has it been abandoned for "belly", "upside down" and "beer"?

It seems that in the past 50 years 4 things have elapsed which seem to be a paradoxical result:

Our understanding of obesity and its relationship with nutrition, activity, hormones and gender have made considerable progress. The language surrounding the problems of weight and obesity has been simplified so that the person can understand the concepts. The amount of information available on weight loss and specifically "lose belly fat" has increased considerably.People are even more bold.

We know how and why we take weight. This information has been shared in an easy to understand format: visceral fat, Central obesity and the distribution of fat android replaced by apple in the form and the fat belly. The methods necessary to reverse the increase in weight are also available in several formats, Web sites, e-books, real books, videos, and documentaries for television, pamphlets of health education in schools and Government. However, we have even more wholesale.

There is some good news. A recent report showed that the life expectancy in Europe has increased once again, while the rate of obesity continue to increase. In addition, the United States report suggests that obesity rates started level, in some places.

For a long time, it was said that education was all that was necessary to reverse the rising obesity rates. However, the facts appear to be a different story. Information in the world is not to prevent people from overeating. Why? What we, as individuals and Nations to do?

The reason for which, apparently, is partly environmental, at least in the field of the social and economic environment. We live in the world where human beings humans have needed work, which is the use of energy, to feed. Instead the food is literally delivered on a plate.

The fight against pollution

Combat environment is the term now used by nutritionists and health scientists to describe the disorder in which we find ourselves in. I have a term best, the fight against pollution.

Now, supermarkets have multistory car parks with treadmill and mechanical lift (one of my local supermarket truly has carpet racing and lifts, and about 20 steps from the entrance to the parking store). Some supermarkets offer products of grocery store (one of them even take your purchases in your kitchen for you). Impressions and fast food seems to be on the rise, with "cafes" to join the action.

There are more cars in the streets and bike and fewer people. Schools are often away from home, and when they are nearby, parents fear for the safety of his son who does not walk. More children distractions internal too who were rarely home. Most mothers work and that means less healthy home cooked meals and more dishes that are cooked and junk food. It is a form of pollution.

I call it pollution because it spreads out of control in the life of people. It causes the disease and causes health problems. This is a problem of human that can be reversed if there are changes in the way in which we live.

Conversely, this is not to change our way of thinking of food (i.e., educate people more), is to change the heart of today's society. We built a new world that each part of your life is easier, and it is turning against us. Instead of improving the quality of life, we make our lives poor, in terms of happiness, mental health and physical well-being. Our own pollution combat is slowly strangling visceral fat, choking the lungs and devouring our hearts. It is slowly killing us.

How can we change?

Central obesity, diet and metabolic syndrome

Although there were a few recent reports that fat distribution does not poses a health risk but total fat greater percentage, there were still many investigations on the impact of Central obesity on health, suggesting that visceral fat (internal) is a major health risk than subcutaneous fat (under the skin).

Metabolic syndrome is a condition that really describes the set of conditions that together much increases the risk of developing heart disease and type 2 diabetes. A recent book, published in February 2011, looked at central obesity and the metabolic syndrome and has determined that, after a Mediterranean diet it may help reduce the symptoms of the metabolic syndrome.

Conditions of the metabolic syndrome
"Disturbances" that lead to an increase in the risk of diseases of the heart and diabetes are:

CSC: excessive fat in the blood

Hypertension: hypertension blood pressure

Hyperglycemia - high sugar in the blood (glycemia) in obesity blood

Central - aka adiposity

Insulin of fat / Central resistance, also known as the visceral belly - fat when the body no longer meets the insulin and cannot reduce inflammation of the level of blood sugar levels

Low - when internal organs suffer inflammation in response to immunological problems.

It is estimated that the metabolic syndrome affects 34% of the population of the United States. OHS to increase the chances of developing diseases of the heart by 2 and the risk of developing type 2 by 5. Up to 34% of Americans now are 5 times more likely to develop type 2 are only those in good health.

Causes of metabolic syndrome

The main causes for the development of the metabolic syndrome are:

The socio-economic situation of the diet of habits

Low of exercise

Poor

Smoking

Lack

However, there is some evidence that a healthy diet can actually reverse the condition, or at least minimize the risk of development. And it is almost not lose weight, while central obesity is without doubt a problem yet. The answer seems to be the Mediterranean diet.

The Mediterranean diet and metabolic syndrome

Already, there was some research to suggest that obesity alone is not the cause of Metabolic syndrome. It seems that this happens that generally those who follow a diet that leads to insufficient Metabolic syndrome are also more likely to Central obesity.

The real issue is specifically the diet and not the level of deposits of fat in the body. The latest research examined the role of the Mediterranean diet and levels of metabolic syndrome and found;

"Accession to the Mediterranean diet (high consumption of whole grains, fruits and vegetables), olive oil, fish, dairy products that are low in fat and moderate wine consumption has been associated with low prevalence of food".

The study, 180 people suffering from metabolic syndrome at random, they were divided into two groups, a follow-up by the Mediterranean diet and the other continued prudent diet (generally low levels of fat and low in refined carbohydrate). 90 People in the Med diet, 78 people have been cured of all symptoms have metabolic syndrome.

Some parts of the Med diet that appears to reduce the metabolic syndrome are:

N-3 fatty acids and fish consumption

Olive dairy

Low oil

Low-fat

Glycemic Index and an increase of intake

Moderate wine consumption

Whole grains

Fruits and vegetables

Nuts

proteins

All these foods are for the most healthy and natural food.

What the research really shows is that, after that a healthy diet can quickly reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. When diabetes is defined, it is very difficult to control. There are many serious problems to health associated with type 2 diabetes, amputations to increase the risk of diseases of the heart and the damage to the nerves, impotence and kidney damage and blindness.

Once more, the key is to eat a balanced, healthy diet and getting regular exercise.
