Khloe Kardashian Rapid Weight Loss Claim Raises Red Flags

Khloe Kardashian’s claim that she lost 20 pounds in 20 days could be unhealthy or even dangerous for some. Most dietitians recommend against rapid weight loss no matter how it’s done.

The Kardashian sisters have made a virtual industry out of their weight gain and loss claims. Kim Kardashian has been sharply criticized for promoting diet pills, while Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian have gained and lost the same weight for years.

The latest claims appear in Life&Style magazine, which has repeatedly published cover stories on the Kardashian’s fantastic weight loss schemes.

“My husband is working out four to six hours a day right now, so I work out with him,” Khloe tells the magazine. “We’ll do outside workouts and inside workouts. We’re always switching it up, so it’s fun.”

Khloe is the tallest of the Kardashian sisters at 5’10? tall. In contrast her sisters are 5' tall and 5’2? tall. The difference has even sparked rumors that she has a different father.

All three have complained about gaining weight in the past. “I’m just an emotional eater,” Khloe said. “Whenever I go through something, I gain weight.”

Robbie Davis, who’s been training both Khloe and husband Lamar Odom, now says she “eats mostly fresh fruits and vegetables, with small amounts of lean proteins like fish and chicken.”

”She trains like an athlete when she’s with us, even doing weight training. We also run the canyons surrounding their house. Plus she does pilates and stair-running on her own,” he adds.

Individuals can lose lose three or more pounds a week safely at home with a healthy diet and lots of exercise, weight loss counselor and registered dietitian Katherine Tallmadge tells WebMD.

Experts generally recommend creating a deficit of 500 calories per day through a combination of eating fewer calories and increasing physical activity. Over the course of a week, this should yield a loss of about one to two pounds of fat.

By limiting diet to 1,050 to 1,200 calories and exercising one hour a day, an individual can expect to lose three to five pounds the first week, or more if they weigh over 250 pounds. But be sure not to dip below this calorie level for safety’s sake, experts recommend.
